你中文名字的含義
What’s the meaning of your Chinese name?
Does your name have any special meaning?
該題的重點就在“含義”二字。只要把自己的中文名的簡單含義概括出來
即可,一般美好含義的詞彙包括外貌類、性格類以及未來祝願類。考生只
要在這幾類當中掌握一些基本詞彙,描述時就能輕鬆應對。
外貌類:beautiful, good-looking, handsome, pretty, etc.
性格類:brave, easy-going, kind-hearted, clever, etc.
未來祝願類:ambitious, successful, happy, etc.
參考答案:
My Chinese name is Juanran. It was given by my father, which
means ‘beauty’ in Chinese. My father gave me this name because he
hoped me to grow up as a pretty girl and live a beautiful life
ever after.
你對自己名字的看法
Do you like your name?
Have you ever thought of changing your name?
一般來說問“看法”/opinion 的題目,答案有三種:喜歡,討厭,沒有
特殊感覺/感覺一般般。一般可以跟自己名字的含義結合在一起。答題時
第一句先給出自己的看法(喜歡/討厭/中立),然後簡要地敘述原因。
參考答案:
I like my name very much because it is very meaningful. It comes
from a famous classical prose, which means ‘beauty’ literately. My
father gave me this name, for he hoped me to become a pretty girl
and live a beautiful life. I have never thought of changing my
name.
中國人起名字的特點
When Chinese people name their children, are there any special
customs that are followed?
這道題的答題思路主要著眼在“特點”二字,中國人起名的特點包括考慮
名字的讀音、字型、含義、輩分以及五行風水等等。名字一般由父母或者
家中的長輩來起,通常都帶著起名者對下一代的美好的祝願。
參考答案:
Chinese people often have particular concern for their children’s
names. A child’s name is usually given by their parents or
grandparents. People carry their good wishes and expectations
into the name. When they name their babies, the pleasance in form
and sound is also taken into consideration.
中國名字與外國名字有甚麼不同
How are Chinese names and Western names different?
中外名字最大的不同就是中文先姓後名,姓氏在前面,名字在後。而英文
名字一般來說名字在前,姓氏放在最後。中文名字一般來說都有寓意,而
且字與字之間可以隨意組合。英文名字一般都是現成的人名,很多時候是
從聖經或其他經典裡面的人物借鑑而來的。
參考答案:
Unlike most Western people, Chinese people put their last name in
front of their first name. Chinese names also tend to have more
historic or idiomatic meanings. Some Westerners may name their
children after certain characters from the Bible or name their
children after a particular saint.
