General Training (G类)
l The texts are taken from notices, advertisements, timetables, leaflets, newspaper, instruction manuals, books and magazines.
l There are three sections of increasing difficulty.
n Section 1 (14 questions)
u contain texts relevant to basic linguistic survival in English (“social survival”);
u provides mainly general, factual information;
u may contain 2 or 3 short texts or several shorter texts (e.g. advertisements).
n Section 2 (13 questions)
u focuses on the work context (“workplace survival”);
u two texts with more complex language (e.g. job descriptions, contracts).
n Section 3 (13 questions)
u general context (“general reading”);
u one long text (e.g. from magazines, fictional and non-fictional book extracts);
u most likely descriptive or instructive.
l 培训类的阅读文本取材于通知、广告、时间表、宣传单、报纸、说明书、书籍和杂志。
l 三个部分难度递增。

Academic (A类)
l There
are three reading passages taken from journals, books, magazines and
newspapers that have been writer for a non-specialist audience.
l Topics
are of general interest and at an appropriate level for candidates
entering university courses or seeking professional registration.
l There are three sections:
n Section 1 = passage 1, 13 questions
n Section 2 = passage 2, 13 questions
n Section 3 = passage 3, 14 questions
l 学术类的阅读文本包括三篇选自期刊、图书、杂志和报纸的阅读文章，文章都是针对非专业读者而写的。
l 话题为大众普遍感兴趣的内容，水平适合将要申请大学课程或职业注册的考生。
l 共包括三个部分：
