The Yinghao Gap programme offers you the chance to teach English, learn Mandarin, live in a completely new culture and explore Asia; all during one unforgettable experience. 

 

Yinghao College is located in Guangzhou countryside, China (which is three hours from Hong Kong) on a riverside campus in a valley famous for its hot springs, where the school sources all its hot water from.

 

Yinghao is currently seeking to fill 8 positions to start in January 2014.

 

What is the role?

You will gain a diverse range of experience from teaching English to teenagers to running activities and working alongside a diverse team of teachers, representing a wide variety of ages and nationalities. You will have real responsibility and make a genuine difference to the lives of those you work with. The biggest challenge our students face is learning English and as an English Teacher, your main role will obviously be to help students to overcome this hurdle. You are not expected to be able to speak any Chinese. Specifically, your roles include:

 

- Preparing and Teaching English to small classes

- Giving Careers / University Application advice

- Organising and running extra-curricular activities -

- Having informal conversations with students

- Working alongside members of the staff, doing tasks such as marking and proof-reading important documents that have been prepared by a non-native speaker of English.

 

The start date is January 2014 for around 6 months.

Everybody knows the best way to learn a language is to live in the country where it's spoken. You won't just be living in China, but we'll also provide you with Mandarin lessons from our Chinese teacher. Learning Chinese is hard, but this is an excellent way to learn a language that is becoming increasingly important.

- The opportunity to travel throughout China/Asia during school holidays

         Yinghao College has holiday during National Day, Christmas and Chinese New Year so there is plenty of time to make full use of the cheap transport throughout China and to other Asian countries.

- 4800 RMB per month

This is higher than a typical graduate salary in China and is enough to live off as well as save in such a cheap area!

- Flight allowance of up to RMB6000

         For one return airfare on the completion of your contract.

 

Who can apply?

Our students are of the highest calibre and this is a reflection of our staff, including English Teachers. This position is aimed at fresh University graduates who love new challenges, have a warm personality, are good with teenagers and are sensitive to different cultures.

 

Other qualities we are looking for which are desirable but not essential include:- 

-       A Native Speaker of English

-   TEFL or English teaching experience

-       University or High School qualifications in Science, Engineering, Maths, Economics or Business

-       Interest in Sports/Music/Art/Drama etc.

-     Ability to get on well with others

-      Experience of living away from home and International experience (such as boarding school/College/University/time abroad/travel)

-         Leadership skills

 

What's the catch?

This is not a holiday nor is it just a job. This is a challenge and may be the best and worst experience of your life, all at the same time. Do you tackle problems or run away from them? If you are not mentally tough or if you are someone who cannot live without home comforts, then this position is not for you.
